Laneige Glowy Make Up Serum: Makeup Review

Preparing the skin for a long day of makeup requires some work. Even for several hours, most makeup won't hold up, especially if you have oily skin like I do. I don't understand why I purchased this item considering how bad I am at applying makeup and how often I go with the simplest solution. All I know is that I fell in love with its color and thought I could use it as a serum alone.

According to Laneige, this Glowy Make Up Serum has a lightweight texture and is formulated with ceramide hydration gel to deliver and lock in moisture while maintaining the oil levels. It has a diamond mineral powder that creates a visibly reflective glow, while Light Fit Prep Technology comfortably adheres to skin for extended makeup wear. According to them we can use this hybrid serum and face primer with or without makeup for a healthy, hydrated glow.

Benefits

🌺Makes skin ready for makeup! Enhanced blending and enhanced long-wear: It has a lightweight texture that blends in well with any type of foundation including cushion foundation, so it stays put for long hours and creates makeup ready skin.
🌺Healthy and soft luminous finish: Natural mineral diamond creates smooth skin that glows with a soft radiance that comes from within.
🌺Light moisturizing serum for dewy smooth skin: Light weighted ceramide moisturizing gel base balances the oil-moisture level in the skin to help create a dewy canvas for makeup without caking.

I purchased this item from Yesstyle a year ago. This serum’s color immediately captured my attention, which is why I chose to purchase it. I utilized the product as soon as I got it, and that was the first time I had ever used a serum like this as a primer. Since I also use serums before applying makeup, it really occurred to me before using this product to compare it to other serums, but after applying it to my skin, I could definitely tell the difference.

From a distance, the product seems to be a transparent fluid, but closer inspection reveals a few minute fragments of what the manufacturer claims are diamond minerals. It disproved my assumption that it would glide with a rough texture. I applied it to my face, and as I spread it throughout my face, it was smoothly absorbed into my skin. It was quite thick and sticky, but it gave my skin an oily but shimmering feel.

I attempted to use it before my foundation as a primer. I really enjoyed how it helped my foundation cling to my skin smoothly, but I didn’t notice that it extended the makeup’s longevity since I started to get oilier after many hours of application. As a result, I took off my makeup right away out of concern that it would clog my pores and result in acne.

The bulk of the comments I read used this as a primer, but I also tried it as a serum, and it was truly sticky and made me uncomfortable at night. Some reviewers claim that when used as a serum and as a primer, this product produces a natural glow or dewy effect, but in my experience, it looks glowy and shimmery in the dropper and on the dorsal part of my hand, but to achieve that glow on my face, I need to use more of the product, and after a while, it makes me look greasier. This product’s major focus is “glow,” however I did not see the “glow effect” that they advertise. Aside from that, this product costs $45, which is excessively pricey for me.

I will not be purchasing this product again in the future. Though it appears that I had a negative experience with this product, my experience may differ from that of other consumers due to our diverse skin types; thus, as a skin care enthusiast, I advise people to first understand their skin types before using any sort of product.
